Use Ballroom to Battle the Bulge!

A local dance champ is encouraging Silihillians to fight the Christmas pounds by ballroom dancing, following the launch of new classes in the town.

Solihull residents will be taught to Cha Cha Cha like Chris Hollins and Rumba like Ricky Whittle by instructors from the RAW Talent Dance School, owned by former West European champion and Dickens Heath resident Rebecca Wallace.

The school is introducing two new classes for the new year; adult beginners classes on a Wednesday evening, and children’s beginners classes on a Saturday morning, all at Dickens Heath Village Hall.

 Rebecca, director of the RAW talent dance school, comments: “Since Chris Hollins showed the public what a normal guy like him can do, demand for our lessons has sorared!  As well as being a really fun way to spend a winter’s evening, wannabe-Waltzers will get their heart rates racing as they learn a new,
glamorous skill.”

Over the six week courses, pupils will be taught the core dances seen on the BBC One programme, including the cha cha cha, samba, rumba, jive, waltz, tango foxtrot and quickstep. 

The children’s beginners class starts on Saturday 9th January 2010. Lessons take place between
10am-11.30am and are priced at £6 per lesson, or £30 for a six week term.

The adult’s beginner’s class starts on Wednesday 13th January 2010. Lessons take place between
8.15pm-9.15pm and the six week course is priced at £25 per person.
